What is there to see in neighboring Greece? A guide to the Acropolis of Athens, Santorini sunsets, Mykonos beaches, and places to visit in Kavala.
Being so close to us, sharing so many of our favorite flavors (tzatziki, moussaka, baklava), and offering a rich history and unique Aegean islands, neighboring Greece is always a favorite on our holiday itineraries.
Athens, the birthplace of Western civilization and democracy... Built atop a high rocky outcrop in the heart of the city, the Acropolis is the starting point of any trip to Greece. Built in the 5th century BC for the goddess Athena, the Parthenon dominates the city with its enormous marble columns. The historic Plaka neighborhood at the foot of the Acropolis is ideal for dinner, with its narrow streets and tavernas.
The world's most romantic island and the one most photographed on Instagram! Whitewashed houses and blue-domed churches line the cliffs of a vast crater formed by a volcanic eruption... Watching the sunset in the village of Oia is one of the most unforgettable experiences of your life.
Known as the Ibiza of Greece, Mykonos is famous for its luxury beach clubs, world-renowned DJs, and wild beach parties that last until dawn. The island's iconic Windmills and Little Venice, where the buildings meet the sea, are must-sees.
This city holds great sentimental value for us, as it is home to the house where our great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was born. With its waterfront promenade reminiscent of İzmir's, its White Tower, and its lively student population, this is a warm Balkan city where you will never feel like a stranger.
Proof that Greece is about more than just islands! Monasteries were built by monks in the 14th century atop enormous sandstone pillars reaching up to the sky. When you see these structures above the clouds, you won't believe your eyes.
