Japan tours usually cover the Tokyo–Kyoto–Osaka triangle; some itineraries include additional stops such as Hakone, Nara, Kobe, or Kamakura, while others combine the trip with Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Japan tours currently available on this page are listed by number of nights, airline, and starting price per person. The vast majority of itineraries depart from Istanbul on Turkish Airlines flights.
How Long Does the Japan Tour Last?
Available itineraries range from 6 to 13 nights. Seven- to eight-night tours cover Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka; itineraries of ten nights or more add Seoul or cities in China. Since the flight from Istanbul to Japan is long, the first and last days are mostly spent traveling; where each day is spent is listed in the day-by-day itinerary.
Japan and Korea Together
Tours that include Seoul take place in two countries: in addition to cities in Japan, they visit palaces, historic neighbourhoods and shopping districts in Seoul. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish citizens can enter Japan visa-free for up to 90 days; South Korea is also visa-free for up to 90 days, but registration for a K-ETA electronic travel authorization is required.
Cherry Blossom Season
Cherry blossoms (sakura) in Japan usually bloom in Tokyo and Kyoto between late March and early April. Tours during this period are listed with “Cherry Blossoms” in the title and sell out early due to high demand. The autumn foliage in November is another busy season.
What Is Included in the Price?
Flights, hotels, and the city tours included in the itinerary are covered by the price of most packages. Some intercity journeys are made by high-speed train (Shinkansen). Lunches and dinners, optional excursions, and personal expenses are generally excluded; each tour’s inclusions and exclusions are listed on its page.
What Is There to See in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka?
In Tokyo, highlights include Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, Shibuya Crossing, Meiji Shrine and Tokyo Skytree. In Kyoto, visit Fushimi Inari with its thousands of orange torii gates, the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji), Kiyomizu-dera and the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove; the Gion district is known for its geisha tradition. In Osaka, Osaka Castle and Dotonbori, a dining street that lights up in the evening, are classic stops on the itinerary. In Nara, you can see free-roaming deer and the giant Buddha statue at Todai-ji Temple.
Practical Information
Public transport in Japan is punctual; a Suica or Pasmo card makes getting around cities easier. Credit cards are widely accepted in large stores, but you’ll need to carry cash in yen for small restaurants and temples. Tipping is not customary. Shoes must be removed when entering temples and some restaurants. Electrical outlets differ from those in Türkiye, so you’ll need a travel adapter.
When to Go?
Spring (late March–May) and autumn (October–November) are the best times to visit Japan. June–early July is the rainy season; summer is hot and humid. In winter, Tokyo and Kyoto are dry and cold, while Hokkaido in the north is known for its snow festivals.
