The Strait of Tiran, northeast of Sharm El Sheikh between Sinai and Saudi Arabia, is one of the Red Sea’s best-known diving and snorkelling spots. The boat anchors at two or three different reef sites during the day. Snorkelling equipment and life jackets are included; non-swimmers can also enter the water wearing a life jacket. An open-buffet lunch and unlimited drinks are served on board. The four reefs in the Strait of Tiran — Jackson, Gordon, Thomas and Woodhouse — are named after the British cartographers who first mapped the area. Day trips usually stop at two or three of them; Gordon Reef is known as the best spot for snorkelling thanks to its shallow waters and the Louilla shipwreck. The island itself is not visited; snorkelling takes place from the boat.
