Asia tours range from the major cities of the Far East to tropical islands, and from Central Asian stops along the Silk Road to the Indian Ocean. This page lists flight-inclusive package tours whose itineraries include a destination in East, Southeast, South or Central Asia. Gulf destinations such as Dubai and Qatar, as well as Caucasus tours, are listed on their own pages.
In East Asia, popular programs include Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka), South Korea (Seoul, Busan) and China (Beijing, Shanghai); in Southeast Asia, Thailand (Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya), Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia and the Indonesian island of Bali are highlights. In South Asia, there are the Maldives, Sri Lanka and India; in Central Asia, there are Uzbekistan tours covering Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent, as well as routes through Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ list of “Visa Requirements for Turkish Citizens,” Japan, South Korea (with K-ETA), Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are visa-free for burgundy passport holders. Visas for Malaysia and the Maldives are issued on arrival; Vietnam, Taiwan and Sri Lanka require an e-visa. China, India, Laos and Turkmenistan require a consular visa. For combined tours, each country’s rules apply separately; the countries on the itinerary are listed individually on the tour page.
Flights to the Far East from Istanbul take 9–12 hours, either nonstop or via a Gulf hub, so itineraries usually last more than 7 nights. Flights to Central Asia take 4–5 hours, and 5–7-night tours are sufficient. The connection point, airline and flight times are listed in the tour’s Travel Information section.
Japan’s cherry blossom season (late March–early April) and autumn foliage (November) are the most popular times to visit. November–March is the dry season in Southeast Asia; monsoon rains occur in summer. December–April is the best time to visit the Maldives, while spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons in Uzbekistan.
Flights are the biggest factor affecting prices on Asia tours; the same route can vary significantly depending on the departure date, airline, and whether the flight is direct or connecting. Domestic flights are also included in combined itineraries. Prices valid for each date are shown in the calendar on the individual tour page.
Tours of Uzbekistan visit some of the best-preserved cities along the Silk Road: Registan Square and Shah-i-Zinda in Samarkand, historic madrasas and caravanserais in Bukhara, and the walled inner city of Itchan Kala in Khiva. High-speed trains are used between Tashkent and Samarkand. Tours of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan focus on the mountain scenery around Almaty, Big Almaty Lake and Issyk-Kul. These countries are visa-free for holders of ordinary passports, and the flight takes 4–5 hours; Central Asia is a short-haul option for those who want to see Asia without a long flight.
Accommodation on Asia tours is usually Bed & Breakfast at 4- and 5-star hotels near city centers. Hotel rooms in Japan are smaller than in Europe; some itineraries include one night at a traditional ryokan. In holiday destinations such as Bali and Phuket, resort hotels with pools are preferred. Hotel names and star ratings are listed on each tour page.
Visa requirements vary by country. Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia are visa-free; Vietnam and Sri Lanka require an e-visa, while the Maldives and Malaysia offer visas on arrival. Consular visas are required for China and India.
Because flight times are long, Far East tours usually last 7–12 nights. Single-country itineraries are shorter, while routes combining two or three countries are longer.
Gulf countries (the United Arab Emirates and Qatar) are considered a separate route group; Dubai tours are listed on the Dubai Tours page.
