Far East Tours

Far East tours cover East and Southeast Asia: Japan, South Korea, China and Taiwan, as well as Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. This page lists flight-inclusive package tours that include at least one of these countries; alongside single-country itineraries, there are also combined routes covering two or three countries.

Combined Routes

As the Far East is reached via long-haul flights, tours visiting several countries in one trip are common. Japan–South Korea, Thailand–Singapore–Malaysia, Vietnam–Cambodia, and Singapore–Bali are the most common combinations. In combined tours, travel between countries is by domestic or regional flights, which are included in the package price; see the tour’s Transportation Information section for details.

Visa Status

With an ordinary passport, Japan is visa-free for 90 days, Thailand for 30 days, Singapore for 30 days and Indonesia for 30 days; South Korea is visa-free but requires K-ETA before arrival, while Thailand requires a digital arrival card. Malaysia issues visas free of charge on arrival; Vietnam and Taiwan require e-visas, and a visa for Cambodia can be obtained at the border or as an e-visa. China and Laos require a consular visa. This information is based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs list.

Season Selection

Cherry blossoms in Japan bloom from late March to early April, while autumn leaves appear in November; both periods fill up early. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable times to visit South Korea. November to March is the dry season in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, while Bali’s dry season runs from April to October. The school semester break and public holidays are busy periods in this region.

Time Difference and Adjustment

There is a 6-hour time difference between Türkiye and Japan and South Korea, and a 4-hour difference with Thailand and Vietnam. The first day is usually spent flying and checking into the hotel, so itineraries leave more intensive sightseeing until the second day. Each tour’s page includes a day-by-day itinerary.

What Is Included in the Price?

International flights, domestic flights, accommodation with breakfast, city tours included in the itinerary and a Turkish-speaking guide are generally included in the price. Visa and e-visa fees, optional excursions and some museum admission fees are excluded from most itineraries; each tour has a separate list of inclusions and exclusions.

Money, Internet and Practical Tips

Although credit cards are widely used in Japan and South Korea, it is a good idea to carry cash for small restaurants and temple admission fees. Local currencies are used in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia; some places also accept US dollars. In Japan, transit cards (Suica, Pasmo) make getting around cities easier. Internet access is easy to arrange in most of the region with an eSIM or local SIM card. Clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is expected when visiting temples; tipping is not customary in Japan, while small tips are usual in Southeast Asia.

Far Eastern Cuisine

Food is one of the most talked-about experiences on Far East tours. Sushi, ramen, and tempura in Japan; barbecue and kimchi in South Korea; pad thai and tom yum in Thailand; and pho and bánh mì in Vietnam are classic street-food favorites. Lunch and dinner are usually at leisure, and guides recommend local restaurants in the area. Halal food options are available in major cities.
