Budva travel guide: places to visit, the best beaches, the streets of Stari Grad (Old Town), and nightlife.
Budva, Montenegro's tourism capital, is one of the most popular destinations on the Adriatic coast, with its historic stone houses, luxury marina and azure beaches. There is plenty to do in this charming seaside town, which you can visit visa-free:
Surrounded by thick walls, Stari Grad is a magnificent example of Venetian architecture and the heart of Budva. As you wander its maze of narrow streets, you can see historic churches such as Santa Maria in Punta and the Citadel, and enjoy a coffee at one of its charming cafés.
Once a fishing village and now a luxury hotel frequented by world-famous stars, Sveti Stefan Island is Montenegro's most iconic sight. Although entry to the island is prohibited, you can take stunning photos from the hill opposite.
Mogren Beach: Famous for its turquoise waters, this beach is hidden behind the rocks just beside the Old Town. Jaz Beach: This long sandy beach outside the city hosts music festivals. Slovenska Beach: A long stretch of coastline right in the city center, lined with plenty of restaurants and cafés.
Budva is famous not only for its days but also for its nights. Especially in summer, open-air nightclubs and beach bars keep the fun going until the first light of dawn.
