Must-do activities in the Bay of Kotor, climbing to Kotor Fortress, and a travel guide to Perast.
Kotor, Montenegro's most mystical and enchanting city, sits on a unique fjord-like bay listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll feel as if time has stood still in this historic city, nestled in the shadow of steep mountains.
The first and most important thing to do in Kotor is to climb the steep staircase of around 1,350 steps to San Giovanni Fortress. The climb is tiring, but the panoramic views of Kotor Bay from the top are well worth it.
The Old Town, enclosed by historic walls dating back to the Republic of Venice, is like an open-air museum, with its Stone Clock Tower, St. Tryphon Cathedral, and narrow streets. And don't forget to pet the charming street cats that have become a symbol of Kotor!
Just 15 minutes from Kotor, Perast is enchanting with its Baroque architecture and peaceful atmosphere. Take a small boat from the shore to the island of Our Lady of the Rocks, in the middle of the sea, and visit its historic church.
Join a day trip or hourly boat tour to see the bay's unique landscape from the water. These tours also take you to natural wonders such as the Blue Cave.
