The journey begins with a meeting at the international terminal of Istanbul Airport; you are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before your flight. Depart for Sarajevo with Turkish Airlines (departure 14:50, arrival 14:40). The city tour includes Baščaršija, Sebilj Square, the Coppersmiths' Bazaar, Latin Bridge, the Sacred Heart Cathedral and the Eternal Flame Monument. Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Ottoman bazaar architecture blends with streets dating from the Austro-Hungarian period. Baščaršija, a bazaar established in the 15th century, is considered the city center, with its coppersmith workshops, small shops and Sebilj Fountain. The Coppersmiths' Bazaar is an area on a street known as Kazandžiluk where copperworking is still practiced; handmade coffee pots and plates are produced here. Overnight accommodation is at the hotel.
The day begins with an open-buffet breakfast at the hotel. An optional excursion offers the chance to visit Blagaj Tekke, the Neretva River, the Blagaj Dervish Tekke, Mostar Old Bridge, Mostar Bridge and the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque; those who don't join the excursion can enjoy free time at the hotel. Blagaj Tekke, built in the 16th century where the Buna River emerges from the base of a cliff, is considered one of the Balkans' best-known dervish lodges. The Neretva River flows through the Herzegovina region, is striking for its turquoise hues and is known for the bridge in Mostar. Mostar Old Bridge, known as Stari Most, is a 16th-century work of Ottoman architecture. It was added to the UNESCO list after being rebuilt and is famous for the tradition of diving from the bridge. Overnight accommodation is at the hotel.
After breakfast and checking out of the hotel, you will be transferred to the airport. You will return to Istanbul Airport on a Turkish Airlines flight (departure 20:20, arrival 00:20). The optional excursion offers the chance to visit the Tunnel of Hope, Baščaršija, the Bosna River and Vrelo Bosne National Park; those who do not join the tour can enjoy free time at the hotel. The Tunnel of Hope is a passageway dug by hand beneath the airport runway during the years of the siege and is now open to visitors as a museum.
